RIGOR MORTIS is the feature directorial debut of the young and talented writer-producer Juno Mak. The film manages to be a clever throwback to the classic Mr. Vampire films from Hong Kong, but with the contemporary creepiness of Japanese films like JU-ON/THE GRUDGE.

Depressed, broke and lonely, has-been actor Chin (Chin Siu-ho) decides to move to apartment 2442 in a sinister looking flat. The spooky building seems to form a perfect backdrop for a suicide, but Chin fails to take his own life when he gets confronted with the twisted reality of his new surroundings. The tenement turns out to be properly haunted, and not just by the (un)dead. His neighbors include an elderly woman (Paw Hee-ching) who keeps an empty coffin in the middle of her apartment, and a Taoist master exorcist (Anthony Chan) whose presence set the tone for the horrific and nightmarish events that unfold.
